Baking Wellness
A non-profit organization teaching youth valuable kitchen skills while fostering community and supporting mental health.
Baking for today’s teens.
Baking Wellness offers a unique therapeutic baking program designed specifically for teenagers. Baking has been shown to have numerous mental health benefits and our program aims to provide a safe and supportive environment where youth can learn new skills, build confidence, and connect with others. Through the art of baking, we help young people express themselves creatively and develop important life skills.
Our program
Baking Wellness offers an 8-week program where high school participants gain practical skills and a foundation for long term well-being and success.
-
After reviewing each week’s recipe, participants take the lead in the baking lesson. This approach empowers youth to develop leadership abilities and confidence in their skills. By giving youth ownership of the process, we create a sense of responsibility and pride in their work.
-
Participants may receive their California Food Handler Certificate upon completion of the program, which teaches basic kitchen safety and sanitation regulations. Participants also gain employability skills and learn what it means to be part of a working team.
-
Sessions allow space for discussion of stress management and personal strategies for managing well-being. Participants will be informed of resources available to provide additional support.
-
Youth participants are part of a team, uplifting one another and practicing active collaboration and peer support.
